Neem oil
Neem oil is extracted from the seeds of Neem fruits. Neem fruits grow on selected NEEM trees, Azadirachta indica. Neem oil is therefore also called Azadirachta indica Oil called. Neem oil is pronounced 'niem' oil.
The seeds of Neem fruits are pressed, without heat, then a vegetable oil is released: Neem oil. The Neem oil is then purified by filtration, to remove residues from the seeds.
Neem oil is dark brown in colour and has a strong garlic, nutty smell. Pure neem oil has a strong smell but the constituents that provide the very ingredients that make the oil effective.
Do not use refined, odourless oil. If you remove the fragrance, you also remove some of the effective ingredients in the oil.
This smell is hard to camouflage, sometimes adding a few drops of essential lavender oil./or rose oil helps. Neem oil can be used for skin problems such as eczema, fungi and viruses. It works anti-inflammatory and analgesic. Another application of this vegetable oil, is as a natural, repellent against fungi, stinging insects and snails in veterinary medicine. In addition, the oil is excellent for use in liquid products for repelling mosquitoes, flies and other insects that target the skin of humans and animals. Neem oil is a non-toxic pesticide.
